Custom attributes & custom attribute groups

Menu: Settings → custom attributes


Custom attributes serve as a completion and addition for certain input areas in 1stAnswer.



Currently the following input areas can be expanded (see “owner”):

  • Support Case
  • Case Solution
  • Customer
  • Problem
  • Configuration Item
  • User Configuration Item
  • Support Case Configuration Item
  • ServiceCall


The input areas mentioned above are by default in the system and cannot be changed by the administrator .

Create new custom attribute

You would like to create a new custom attribute? Simply follow the following steps:

1. Select the input area (owner / type) where you would like to add the attribution.
2. Enter the data for the new attribute (Name, type, etc.).
3. Confirm it by clicking on the OK button.




ID Internal Id of the custom attribute
Description Description of the custom attribute, which is displayed in the selected language in the user interface (4).
UI element You can enter the UI element in this field . This could either be a text box (free input possible), a ListBox (a set argument list) or CheckBox (Box, which can be checked).
Default value A default value for a custom attribute can optionally entered here . This value will be used when you create this attribute. However, it can also be transcribed into the detail form later on
Is mandatory This filed is marked as mandatory only when the choice box is activated. Attention: This adjustment can be transcribed to a group through the allocation of the attribute.
Validation
expression
A regular expression can be entered here, which for example defines what symbols can be used for your entry.
Value list The administrator can store a value list ( e.g. for the Listbox) in this column. The specific values have to be separated by a semi colon.
Display order The exact order of the attributes are specified in this column. This value will be replaced through the order of the attributes in the selected custom attribute group in Release 4!
The external link name\\ An external link with further information about this custom attribute can be stored here.
URL An URL with further information about this attribute can be stored here. Through the entry of [DATA:value] in the URL can this value be taken as a URL parameter . The parameter will be transcribed by the entered value of the user of the attribute(There is no need to save it beforehand)For example http://www.1stanswer.de/LoginForm.aspx?loginName=[DATA:value] when you enter „test“ in the current attribute it will lead to the following URL: http://www.1stanswer.de/LoginForm.aspx?loginName=test



Edit custom attributes

To edit an existing custom attribute you just have to click on the „edit“ symbol in the selected line().


The entry form will be expanded by the „Save“-Symbol () and the „Cancel“-Symbol ().

Subsequently, the entry fields of the attribute can be changed.

Custom attribute group

Menu: Setting → Custom attribute group


Since the Release 3.1 SP1 of 1stAnswer different custom attribute groups with each different attributes per field can be defined. The allocation to an Incident or respectively to a problem is carried out via the designated support category and will be specified in the administration of the support categories (Refer to chapter). In fields without categories (customer, Configuration Items), the selection will be specified via a select list in the detail display.

New customer attribute group

You can create a new customer attribute group by following these simply steps:

  1. Select “New” in the toolbar
  2. Enter a new name for the group and select the type. The Checkbox Standard specifies if the group will be pulled up by default when you create a new objects from the selected type.
  3. Click now on save.



Administrate custom attribute groups

Select the group to which you would like to add the attachment.



The administration menu will appear at the bottom of the input window:



On the left side you can find all attributes of the custom group.

  1. You can exclude attributes from a group via the left and right arrow button in the middle of the picture (1). The excluded attributes will appear in the right window .
  2. You can arrange the order of the attributes by clicking on the up and down arrow button on the right side (2).
  3. You can select individual attributes of a group with the checkbox “is mandatory” (3), when this attribute should become mandatory in this group. This setting overwrites the mandatory setting on the attribute itself.
  4. Save your settings.
